I was a young child living in San Francisco when I had my first Cho Cho Bar back in the early 60s. It was sooo good.
I found the following site on the Web and this sttore specifically talks about having the Cho Cho Bar on it's menu under Fountain Items.

Diana, how did I find Tucker's Ice cream? I had
been trying things in Google and what worked was
a search that is:
"chocolate malt ice cream cho cho".
That did it! I figured everyone tried "cho cho", so
was looking for another approach. I just wish I
was closer to try it myself. I am in Seattle, so let
me know if it is the real thing, if so the next time in
Calif, I will go there myself.
Please check if they make it themselves or buy
from a distributor.

That's great. How did you find the website for Tucker's Ice Cream. It's like a miracle.
I live about an hour's drive from Alameda, so one of these days, I'll have to take a drive there and try their Cho Cho's. They certainly sound exactly like the ones I had as a child. I just can't believe it.
Thank you so much, and when I go there, I will bring a container (filled with ice or those Ice Packs) and bring some home and put them in my freezer. I'll also let you know how they taste. I can't wait!!

like the real deal. So if you are in the Alameda, CA
area, please check it out and let us know if it is
what you remember.

Amazing, others remember cho cho's! Reading
the responses it appears it was not local to Seattle
like I thought, but in several places in the USA.
I think the product was produced in many locations
by local dairy or ice cream makers.
The reason I believe that is the product I bought
was always perfect. If you think back to buying
frozen foods shipped from accross country in the
50's, before freeways, often the frozen package
was like an ice block or encrusted with ice.
I suggest checking your local dairy and ice cream
makers and see if they have a website that might
have a history or someone you could call.
I look forward to finding a source for cho cho's or a
recipe.

I am so excited (and relieved!) to FINALLY find people who remember Cho-Cho's!!!!!!
The only one who remembered them was my dad. The rest of my family thought I was nuts and, over the years, I began to wonder if they were right - LOL! I could never find anyone else who remembered them.
Thanks much for the reminiscing. Cho-Cho's were great!

Does anybody remember the name of the company who manufactured the Cho-Cho's sold in Oklahoma in the 50's? They came in a crinkly white paper cover with yellow and green writing and I think maybe a picture of a clown? They came in a plain large brown cardboard box. The bars were, I think, long and flat and rounded on the top, kind of like the Eskimo Pie bars are shaped now. Seems like there was a hump in the middle over the stick.

I might have a malt flavored ice cream recipe. Not sure. It will take some looking through old recipes. I will pass along a malted brownie recipe I have that is very good. I love the flavor of malt in food and drinks.
I am going out of town for the week so it will be when I return.

I can't believe somebody else remembers Cho-Cho's! They came in a big plain cardboard box and the individual wrappers, as I recall, were yellow and green and may have had a clown on them. The chocolate covering had these malted milk crunchies in it and the ice cream itself, texture, flavor and everything was heavenly! I couldn't wait to get home every day and eat one of them! I lived in Agra, Oklahoma, at the time, with my grandmother who raised me. Can any one tell me if they are still made anywhere or even who made them so long ago? Thanks!!!
