I tried the recipes that were sent in and neither are anything compared to the Old Cho Cho. As I have said before, I bought a case from Tuckers and that wasn't close, I wrote to the US Patent and only got info on the cup, I wrote to the city where the cup was made and never heard from them, and lastly, I tried the recipes. I did not try the Food Network. I am not familiar with that source. Maybe someone else can look into that and stay with it until they find something. They certainly can do a more thorough job than any one of us. I have a cup, if you need a sample.

I live in Australia and have never heard of Cho Cho Ice Cream - all I now know if this discussion about Cho Cho Ice Cream can go on for 6 years they must have been some fabulous ice cream. I hope you find at least the recipe for them because I sure would love to make them.
I have really enjoyed watching these posts for this discussion. It really is amazing how food can bring up such fond memories....All the best in hunting down this recipe....

I mentioned this awhile back but didn't post...these items are off an Ice Cream Truck board that I'm on...
Although the original Cho Chos are apparently no longer available, North Star has a chocolate frosted malt product which appears to be similiar.

For those not familiar with the Cho-cho, this description appears on an Internet posting by a former campground owner:
"It was a chocolate malted ice cream in a dixie-cup-type container with a plastic lid. You got a popsicle stick with it which you pushed through the lid. You rolled the cup in your hands to soften it up a bit, then removed the cup and had a 'popsicle' to eat. It kind of tasted like a Wendy's chocolate frosty but much creamier and MUCH better! We sold those at our campground for years, and then Bechtel's got new machinery and couldn't fill the smaller cups any more so they stopped making them. That was a sad, sad day at our campground, and I'm sure many others in the area."
The Cho-Cho Company of Milwaukee, Wisconsin made these originally. Apparently other companies packaged these as well, possibly including HP Hood Dairy.

Hey, I was so excited to see that others remember my favorite "Cho-Cho"s....I live in the Pittsburgh area of Pa. and I really would love to find these treats again...Does anyone remember who made them..

This may sound like something from the Twilight Zone but we just had a cho cho tonight after dinner!(yummy) I was wondering about the recipe and proceeded to use google and found this forum. I had to join just to share my information with you.
You will be happy to know that we have a company in northern California who sells cho cho's.

No, Tuckers in California is not even close to the original Cho Cho of the 1950's. I bought 15 and had them shipped to me from California to Clifton Park, NY, packed in dry ice. As the expression goes "Been there, done that." They were good, but not good enough to settle the taste of the original Cho Cho. Good try.

Sounds like you are a cho cho connoisseur...
All I can go by is that Tucker's sells cho cho's, we enjoyed one tonight and it was good. Obviously, it's been a few years since they were main stream so I can't accurately compare the old to the new in some kind of taste test.
Good luck with finding a cho cho that meets your standards.

Attitude??? I spent $160 to purchase them from Tuckers and have them shipped. I had hoped they were like the originals. I'm sorry if you were offended. Like I have said previously on this posting, I have written and paid the Patent Bureau, and got the patent on the cup and not the recipe, I have a cup, if anyone wants to see it, I wrote to the city the cup was made, and did not get a reply, then I called Tuckers, and lastly, I tried every recipe that has been posted so far on this site. It is something I would like to taste one more time before I buy the farm. This is a friendly site. I'm sorry if you were disappointed that you tried to save the day, but didn't. I wish you had, believe me.

Friendly site? I certainly feel welcomed.
It was not my intent to win some award or garner recognition for my information. I read the first post and felt it was such a coincidence that we had cho cho's this very night - that's all. That may be why I came across as excited.
My apologies for not reading all 8 pages on this subject before adding my information. If I had done that perhaps I would have passed and it would have saved me from registering and now having to explain myself. Guess you said it best - 'nice try'.

A Cho Cho from the 50's has its own standards, they aren't my standards. That was a flip remark on a very nice web site.
