quote:
I'm 67 years old and one of my best momories is my brother taking me on his bike to get a CHO CHO. The store was about a mile away The great thing about the CHO CHO are the memories. Everything taste better when your a kid, and we all want that back.
When I was a kid I could easily walk a mile for a cho cho. I didn't need a bike to go a mile. I walked 3 miles to school every day and then 3 miles back after school. Memories are for remembering what you had yesterday but don't have today. Today, thanks to Richcreator, memories are a reality. We don't have to remember Cho Cho's. All we have to do is make them and eat them. But I agree with you about everything tasting better when we were kids, like spinach and carrots and mushrooms and broccoli and we all what that taste back, don't we. duh.......

I too ate Cho Cho Bars at school in the 60's. I little different than the ones you describe. These were the size of Eskimo Pies with a stick and malted milk ice cream covered with the same chocolate coating but with crunchies in the coating. Not very hard to research on the internet. They were made by Hood & Sons which later became HP Hood Inc. and is now HP Hood, LLC after acquiring some other companies. They did make the Cho Cho Bars I remember. I emailed them just to make sure but I am pretty sure this is the company and they are still in business.

Go here http://gallianoparfait.livejournal.com/5529.html and this is what we had in Mendota Ill. When I was 8 or 9 years old I knew the driver of the "Purity Ice Cream" truck, and about once a week we would catch him at the neighborhood store and con him out of a couple of free Cho Chos.

Scary isn't it? Too bad but it seems that a stroll down memory is a no no. I am so sorry but it is what it is.

Hey Wrongnumber, email me if you wish. I graduated from MHS in '65. Got my Cho Chos from the butcher shop in Compton, where I grew up. Was the Purity truck connected with the Purity Dairy Bar? Don't let the turkeys get you down.

Wrongnumber, thanks for posting! Pretty cool picture that you referenced for the address. If you own a Ford automobile today, is it an immatation because it isn't a 1903 Ford?
