Im very new to baking.  Im on my fourth cake and have mostly baked and decorated round layer cakes.  I have been asked to bake a sheet cake for 18 20 people.  I was wondering what size and how do I remove the layer cake from the pan.  Does anybody have any tips to successfully remove the cake from a sheet pan?Text

Simply line the cakepan with parchment paper,
the cake should release effortless

Hello Greg,
I've watched chef's on the food network, the chef's use another cookie sheet,a little bigger then the one you're using. After the cake is cooled on a rack, take the bigger(clean) cookie sheet with the bottom down, on top of the cookie sheet with cake, that's on the rack cooling, flip the baked cake upside down,so the cake is on the "BOTTOM" of the other cookie sheet, carefully place the cookie sheet with the cake on it, on the counter, then you can frost & decorate your cake very easily. I hope you understand what I'm trying to explain to you Smile   Carol

Thanks Carol that worked wonderful.  I made a gas pump cake for my son who is eight years old.  He and I collect old gas station stuff and he wanted a cake for his birthday in February. I wanted to practice before I made a cake for a group of people.  I have another question.  Im really not that artistic and rely heavily on transferring images from computer print outs to the cake.  At this point I lay a piece of paper on the cake top and use toothpicks to do an outline.  It works pretty well but I was wondering if there was a better way to transfer images to cakes for decorating.  Again thanks for your help

Greg

Good Afternoon Greg!!!
one thing you could do if you would like, is to go to one of the book stores, & try to find a book on cake decorating, I have to go to a book store, Barnes & Noble, to find a book on encyclopedia of crochet & computers, ours crashed, & I've been trying to fix it Confused anyway, I also would like to get a big book on cake decorating!! another thing, is just take a big deep breath, & tell yourself, that "this is going to turn out great because I'm  also using my imagination"!!!! we all make mistakes, that's how we learn sometimes, the hard way, but it's all worth it. I know that the cake you will be making for your son will be GREAT!!!!! Carol

Have A Sweet day!!
