To make some yummy dutch stroopwafels, most recipes call for corn syrup (light or dark) which Im not sure I can find here(venice, italy).  I have found a sort of molasses at my natural food store...do you think that would work out OK?  I tend to think so, just wanted to see what another cook or baker might say. Thanks!

Hi,

I would substitute Golden Syrup or honey for light corn syrup. If the recipe calls for dark corn syrup, I would substitute it with Dark Treacle or light molasses.

ok, thanks for the suggestions. Again, the choices here are very limited. By "Golden syrup" do you mean maple syrup?

Hi again,

What I mean by golden syrup is the brand from England called Lyle's Golden Syrup (substitute for light corn syrup) or Lyle's Dark Treacle (substitute for dark corn syrup), not maple syrup.
