I'm attempting to make sourdough starter listed on this site. I followed the directions and mixed all the ingredients last night and covered it with cheesecloth. I went to stir it this morning and it's not bubbling. I've never made sourdough starter before, and am concerned because I see that it does not contain yeast like some of the other recipes. I just want to know if it's a complete recipe and if it will make my bread dough rise. I plan to use a sourdough bread recipe from this site as well. This is what is posted to where the recipe originated from (it uses yogert and dry milk powder). Adapted from Williams-Sonoma Collection Series: Bread - by Beth Hensperger (Simon & Schuster, 2002 ).
Thanks for any help you can offer.

i80lv....

One day is hardly anything to worry about on your sourdough starter...  sometimes its 2 or 3 days before you'll notice.

You might want to look for a sourdough starter that uses rye flour.  Rye is one of the easiest grains to 'start'.

Alternately, using a cheesecloth with a grape bunch wrapped within works well.
