I need to know : When you're making pastry cream, does it matter if you use imitation vanilla rather than pure vanilla extract?

Hi Micah,

No it doesn't matter if you use real vanilla or imitation vanilla extract when making pastry cream, although real vanilla is preferable when a recipe calls for vanilla. If you can't get real vanilla, then by all means substitute with imitation vanilla.
