Servings: 12-16 |
Comments: These yummy bars are part of our Christmas tradition. Cut them small as they are very rich. |
Ingredients: 1/4 cup butter or margarine 1 cup graham cracker crumbs 1 cup shredded or flaked coconut 1 cup chocolate chips 1 cup chopped nuts 1 (15 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk |
Instructions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 C). Melt butter (or margarine) in an 8-inch (20cm) square cake pan. Spread graham cracker crumbs, shredded coconut, chocolate chips, and nuts in even layers over the butter. Drizzle condensed milk over entire surface. Bake at 350 degrees F (180 C) for 25 to 30 minutes. Cool in pan and cut into bars. Makes 12-16 bars (depending on what size bars you cut them into). *Note: These should be cut into very small bars as they are very rich. Photograph taken by Diana Baker Woodall. |

My grandmother used to make these when I was a little girl and would come to visit. Simple tastes and easy to make. Not the fanciest bar, but pleasing.
