I have a recipe from my Grandmother.  She never
measured ingredients so the measurements are no
accurate.  I can't get this recipe to come out
correctly can someone help me?  Here are the
ingredients for the dough.
1/2lb crisco
1 tlb sugar
2 tlb orange juick
1 tlb vanilla
7 eggs
2 1/2 lbs flour
5 tsp baking powder

filling
1 1/2 bottles preserves
1 sq bitter chocolate
1 pkg juice citron (in food processor)
1/2 cup cracker meal
1 sm jar cherries
refrigerate overnight

This is made as a loaf cookie with the filling inside
then she sliced it like a biscotti.

No one else in my family has this recipe.  I would
greatly appreciate it if someone can help me with the
correct measurements.

Thank you

I just saw this post.  I don't come often to this
site anymore but I thought I would share a few ideas
with you. I hope it helps.
The dough is pretty easy you just need a scale to
help you out.
The filling might be a little more problematic
though. The 1 square of bitter chocolate is 1 ounce
unsweetened chocolate..that was the easy one.
The preserves I would guess to be probably an 8
ounce jar so about 1 1/2 cups.
Cracker meal, processed crackers and I would bet it
would be the plain saltine cracker not the buttery
kind.
Small jar of cherries I am betting that is a small
jar of maraschino cherries. I think those are in
like 4 ounce bottles.
Now for the tough one...you got me on the citron
unless it is the candied citron that you can find
around Christmas, pretty much candied citrus rind.

I sure hope this helps and you have a lot of time to
practice before next Christmas. Sounds to me like
this is a holiday cookie.
