I don't know of any substitute for glycerin, however, I know of a recipe by Jacque Torres that is made without glycerin.  You can find it at: http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_20407,00.html

I haven't tried his recipe, yet, but usually like them.  
You could also try Marshmallow Fondant or Chocolate Clay Fondants.  Neither are traditional fondant recipes, but I think both of these recipes taste better than fondant and do not require glycerin.  Let me know if you'd like me to email the recipes to you.

more info 
I've always wanted to make rolled fondant.  Unfortunately, the recipe in this site calls for glycerin which I can't find in our store.

Would there be any substitute?
