How to Make Simple Gumpaste Flowers

Here are some simple but effective flowers to make for that special occasion cake....Choo Teck Poh

1. Roll your gumpaste as thinly as possible. Cut into discs using a small round cutter. I didn't have one, so I used the round end of a big rosette piping tip. Then fold into half. Gather up the edges; some pleats will be formed. Pinch together with some water or sugar glue.

2. With these round petals, you can form various flowers; see following 2 flowers. This one is just one layer of petals with a slightly flattened button center.

3. Here's the other flower, with 2 rows of petals and a cone center.

4. To make the spiky flowers, roll slivers of gumpaste with pointy ends. Use the pointy gumpaste tool and make an indentation.
