Chocolate Pound Cake

Ingredients: ![]() 1/2 cup vegetable shortening ( such as Crisco) 2 sticks (1 cup) unsalted butter 3 cups granulated sugar 5 large eggs 3 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 4 Tbsp. unsweetened cocoa 1 cup milk 1 Tbsp. vanilla extract or flavoring |
Instructions: Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Grease and flour a 9-inch tube or bundt pan. Cream shortening and butter well. Add sugar, mix well. Add eggs to mixture one at a time. Sift dry ingredients together, and stir into shortening/butter mixture, stir in milk and vanilla. Pour batter into greased and floured tube or bundt pan. Bake in preheated 325 degree F oven for 1 hour and 20 minutes. Remove from oven to rack, let cool in pan for 10-15 minutes, and then invert cake onto cooling rack and let cool completely. Makes: 8-11 servings |
