Serve these chewy oatmeal cookies when you have company over, or for a late brunch or afternoon tea. The kids really love them!!

Ingredients:
3/4 cup butter flavor Crisco shortening
1 1/4 cups firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg
1/3 cup milk
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 cups oats (quick or old fashoned, uncooked)
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt (optional)
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 cup raisins

Instructions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F/190 degrees C. Lightly grease baking sheets with butter flavored Crisco.

Combine butter flavor Crisco, brown sugar, egg, milk and vanilla in a large mixing bowl. Beat at medium speed of electric mixer until well blended. Combine oats, flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon. Mix into creamed mixture at low speed just until blended. Stir in raisins. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough 2 inches apart on prepared baking sheets. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until cookies are lightly browned. Cool for 2 minutes in baking sheets then transfer to wire rack to cool completely.

Makes about 2-1/2 dozen cookies.

very good , but if you add molasses instead of brown sugar and add 1 extra cup of flour it gives a real good flavor.
