Goreng Pisang (Banana Fritters)

Comments: These banana fritters originate from Indonesia and are very popular in Southeast Asia. Use only ripe bananas. |
Ingredients: ![]() 1 cup water 1/4 tsp. salt 1 cup plain flour (all-purpose flour) 1/2 cup rice flour (no substitutions please) 4 ripe bananas 1/4 cup castor sugar (granulated sugar) 2 tsp. baking powder oil for deep frying |
Instructions: 1. Sift all purpose flour, rice flour, baking powder, and salt into a bowl. Add water to make a smooth coating batter. Mix well. 2. Peel bananas, cut each banana into 2 lengthwise then cut each piece into 2 crosswise. Dip them into batter. 3. Heat oil in a wok or deep fryer to 375 degrees F (190 C). Deep fry the batter-coated bananas until crisp and golden brown. Drain on a paper towel. Sprinkle powdered sugar on the bananas and serve hot. Makes 16 fritters. |
