Servings: Makes enough to frost a 9-inch layer cake

Comments:
A basic chocolate whipped cream frosting that can be used to ice cakes, cupcakes, muffins, or spread over pies. Wonderful for icing this Elegant Black Forest Cake* (see note), pictured above.

Ingredients:
2 cups chilled heavy whipping cream (not ultra-pasteurized)
1 cup confectioners' sugar
1/2 to 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
pinch of salt

Instructions:
Chill mixing bowl and beaters in freezer for 20 minutes. Whip chilled cream until light and fluffy, gradually beating in confectioners' sugar, cocoa, and salt.

Use as desired. Store covered in refrigerator.

Makes enough to frost a 9-inch layer cake.

It tastes sooo good! I don't put the salt in and it tastes very good. I use this on all my cakes and everyone who eats it raves about it!

Is there any different between whipping cream and heavy whipping cream? Is it ok if I use whipping cream?

This is the icing I use every year for my daughter's cake. She does not like anything you scrape out of a can or store bought cake. Thanks for sharing your recipe.
