Chai Tea

Servings: 4
Comments:
My daughter convinced me to try Chai Tea while I was visiting her in Texas. I don't like hot drinks, sweet tea, or milk. I could NOT like Chai Tea....well, I love it. When I returned to my home, there was no place selling it, so I looked around on the internet and learned to make my own.

Ingredients:
3 inches stick cinnamon
4 slices fresh ginger
¾ tsp. ground nutmeg
1/8 tsp. ground cardamom
4 tsp. loose tea
2 cups cold water
1/3 cup granulated sugar
2 cups milk

Instructions:
Put spices in cold water, bring to a boil. Add tea (4 tea bags can be used) to boiling water, let boil about 30 seconds. Let tea steep for 5 minutes. Strain, add sugar and milk. I prefer to heat the milk before serving.

More sugar can be used if you like a sweeter tea. I also use brown sugar or honey to sweeten the Chai....it all depends on your particular taste. The spices can be increased or decreased too. Traditional Chai calls for cloves, but I am allergic to them, so I don't add.

Makes 4 servings.
