Servings: Makes 1 loaf

Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup (1/2 stick/2 oz/56g) butter, softened
1 1/2 cups mashed ripe banana (about 3 bananas)
2 eggs
1/3 cup plain yogurt
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Cooking spray

Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350°F/180°C.

Lightly spoon flour into dry measuring cups, and level with a knife. Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt, stirring with a whisk.

Place sugar and butter in a large bowl; beat with a mixer at medium speed until well blended (about 1 minute). Add banana, eggs, and yogurt; beat until blended. Add flour mixture; beat at low speed just until moist.

Place chocolate chips in a medium microwave-safe bowl, and microwave at HIGH 1 minute or until almost melted, stirring until smooth. Cool slightly. Add 1 cup batter to chocolate, stirring until well combined. Spoon chocolate batter alternately with plain batter into an 8 1/2 x 4 1/2-inch loaf pan coated with cooking spray. Swirl batters together using a knife. Bake in preheated oven for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes in pan on a wire rack; remove from pan. Cool completely on wire rack.

Makes 1 loaf, 16 slices

This bread is so so good! I think the yogurt makes it perfectly moist but firm. Everyone I know thinks I am some kind of domestic goddess because of this bread. Thanks! :o)

What an awesome bread! I made a change or 2 anyway! Instead of only 1/2 cup chocolate chips, I went all the way, 1 cup chips, then I didn't have any just chocolate chips, so I used peanut butter chips instead - Awesome flavor!

OMG OMG, this was an absolutely wonderful recipe. It was just FANTABULOUS.....seriously loved it.....I had so many bananas from our banana tree and I didn't know what to do with them so I surfed the net and found many recipes with bananas. This was probably the best I have tried...

I played with the recipe as well. I used 1/2 cup of Hershey's Special Dark baking chips, then threw in some mini chocolate chips into the batter afterward. Definitely a "keeper"!!

This recipe helped me win a cooking competition at my school. I played with the recipe and added more banana to it and used milk chocolate instead.

I just baked this cake and it looks sooo awesome. I did a few minor changes to the recipe, though to suit my vegetarian palate, but nevertheless this recipe rocks!
