Servings: 16 brownies

Ingredients:
6 tablespoons (3/4 stick/3oz) unsalted butter, melted
1 1/4 cups firmly packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
1/4 to 1/2 cup chopped nuts (chopped peanuts or other nuts of your choice) optional
1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
Vegetable cooking spray

Instructions:
1. Combine melted butter and brown sugar in a medium bowl; add eggs. Beat at medium speed of an electric mixer until thoroughly combined. Add vanilla; beat well.

2. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt; add to sugar mixture, stirring well.

3. Divide batter in half. Stir cocoa and nuts (if using) into one half; stir peanut butter into other half. (Peanut butter mixture will be thick.)

4. Spoon dollops of each batter alternately into a 9-inch (23cm) square pan coated with cooking spray. Cut through batters in pan with a knife to create a swirled pattern. Bake at 350° F (180°C) for 25 minutes or until a wooden stick inserted in center comes out clean. Remove from oven, and let cool completely on a wire rack. When brownies are completely cooled, cut into squares.

Makes 16 brownies.

These were very good. I too tried to do the swirl thing, but it didn't quite work. I ended up just mixing both halves together. I also added peanut butter chips and milk chocolate chips. Very delicious-especially with a tall glass of milk!

These brownies were great! Of course, they didn't quite turn out like the picture, but that's okay. The batter was a little bit thick, so I ended up pressing the dollops of batter down a little bit before I swirled them. That seemed to work.

The brownies did not come out at all. My niece who will eat anything wouldnt even touch them. They were dry and did not taste like anything.

I made these wonderful looking brownies and they tasted great! I layered the brownies instead of doing the marble effect, and I loved them! I had intended on taking them into work, and they never made it off the counter- Family loved them as much as I did. Thank you for this recipe, it was wonderful.

I made this dessert and it turned out nothing like the picture. I followed the method exactly. I think you need to make the instructions more clear!
