This Oreo Cookie Cheesecake is topped with a luscious chocolate glaze; then whole Oreo Cookies are placed decoratively around the edges. This is a very special cheesecake. All the Oreo cookie AND cheesecake lover's will really adore this one. It's spectacular!!

Ingredients:
For Crust:
2 cups Oreo cookie crumbs* (See Notes Below)
2 tbsp. butter, melted
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 tsp. ground cinnamon

For Filling:
4 (8 oz. packages-32 oz. total) packages cream cheese, softened
1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
1/3 cup heavy whipping cream
2 tbsp. all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
4 eggs
1 1/2 cups Oreo cookies, crushed into pieces

Sour Cream Layer:
16 oz. sour cream
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract

Chocolate Glaze:
1 cup heavy whipping cream
1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 tsp. vanilla extract
14-16 whole Oreo Cookies

Instructions:
Crust:
Mix 2 cups cookie crumbs, melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a medium bowl; firmly press mixture evenly into bottom and 1 inch up sides of a 10-inch springform pan. Bake at 350º F(180º C) for 5 minutes; set aside.

Filling:
In a large bowl, beat cream cheese at medium speed of an electric mixer until smooth. Gradually add 1 1/4 cups sugar, beating well. Add 1/3 cup whipping cream, flour, and 1 tsp. vanilla; beat well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Pour 1/3 of batter into prepared pan. Top with 1 1/2 cups crushed cookie pieces; pour in remaining batter. Bake at 350º F. (180º C) for 45 minutes.

Sour Cream Layer:
Combine sour cream, 1/4 cup sugar, and 1 tsp. vanilla; spread evenly on cheesecake. Bake at 350º F (180º C) for 7 minutes. Turn oven off and leave in oven 30 minutes. Remove cheesecake and let cool completely on a wire rack.

Chocolate Glaze:
Combine 1 cup whipping cream and chocolate chips in a saucepan; stir over low heat until chocolate melts; stir in 1 t vanilla. Pour mixture over cheesecake while still warm. Refrigerate at least 8 hours before serving. Remove about 1/2 hour to 1 hour before serving, remove ring from springform pan. Decoratively place 14-16 whole oreo cookies around edges of cheesecake. Serve chilled.

Makes 12-14 servings.

*NOTES:
1. Oreo Cookie Crumbs are not being made by Nabisco anymore. You may use Nabisco Famous Chocolate Wafers instead and crush them up for the cheesecake crust.

2. You may also substitute the newer "chocolate filled" Oreo Cookies for the crust and for decorating top of cheesecake.

3. If desired, instead of pouring the chocolate glaze over the cheesecake, you may decorate the edges of the cheesecake with the whole Oreo Cookies, and then pour the chocolate glaze over the cookies and cake.

Hi, You should use oreo cookie crumbs to make the crust, not the oreo cookies with cream inside. If you can't find the oreo cookie crumbs at your supermarket, split the regular oreo cookies apart and remove the cream, then crush the cookies for making the crust. Good luck. Sincerely, Diana of Diana's Desserts

can you tell me, for the oreo cookie crumbs, do we need to remove the cream between them? (very sorry, I haven't tried this yet, hence I'm not sure what rating to give).

I was just wondering where I would be able to find the oreo cookie crumbs by itself? I alway bake using oreo's for my pies, but it's a hassle having to scoop out the cream all the time. Is there a certain distributer that sells it?

This was a wonderful cheesecake! The addition of cinnamon and brown sugar to the crust gave it a great taste. The cheesecake was moist and dense. Very nice!

I'm planning on making this recipe this weekend. It looks fabulous! I wanted to know what I should do about the baking time if I omit the sour cream topping. Is the sour cream topping necessary?

This cheesecake is wonderful. It is just as good if not better than cheesecakes you would get from a speciality store.

Hi Diana, this recipe looks good and I would like to bake this for my boyfriend's birthday! Is heavy whipping cream the same as thickened cream? If not, can I substitute the whipping cream with thickened cream?

Personally, I didn't care for this. I made it EXACTLY according to the recipe. It sounded sooo good, but the taste is mediocre at best. I've made much, much better tasting cheesecakes. There are a zillion calories, lots of ingredients, lots of time, and just plain not worth it. Sorry--I'm deleting this from my files.

Hi, Is it okay to use caster sugar instead? And for the Oreo cookie crumbs, they don't sell them anymore, so can you please tell me the quantity of the Oreo (both in the crust and filling) in grams. Thanks!

Did not cook crust. Used for no cook pie there for the white center worked well. Also center of cookie cooks well if using less butter.
