Simple Syrup II

Servings: Makes 1 1/4 cups |
Comments: Here is another basic "simple syrup" recipe for your "genoise cakes", and for many other types of cakes. |
Ingredients: ![]() 1/4 cup boiling water 3/4 cup sugar 1/2 cup cold water 1 tsp. lemon juice 1/8 tsp. vanilla extract* |
Instructions: In a small pot, bring to a boil 1/4 cup water, set over high heat. Add in the sugar and boil until the sugar has dissolved, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and add in 1/2 cup cold water; stir to combine. Add in the lemon juice and vanilla. Let cool. *Note: You can also use, instead of vanilla: Kirsch, orange liqueur, brandy, strong brewed coffee, rum, almond, or any favorite extract, to flavor the syrup. |
