Place ½ pound butter, cocoa, and salt in bowl of electric mixer fitted with a paddle.
Cream mixture on low until thoroughly combined, about 3 minutes. Add confectioners' sugar,

I am looking for an old chocolate icing recipe my mother made. When the cake sets the icing gets hard like fudge. Can you help.

Hi Bonnie, If you're looking for a recipe for chocolate frosting that sets "hard", try the Boiled Chocolate Frosting or the Old-Fashioned Fudge Frosting recipes on this website under this same category: Frostings -Toppings - Sauces - Fillings. I have just added them to my website today. Let me know if either one of them is what you're looking for, okay. Email me at: diana@dianasdesserts.com
