Comments: Banana Splits are one of America's favorite ice cream desserts. You can have them made at almost every ice cream store, and many coffee shops and family style restaurants offer them on their dessert menu. Different frozen desserts come and go, fads change, but this great "Old-Fashion Banana Split" will always be a around............DianasDesserts |
Ingredients: 1 medium size banana, sliced in half lengthwise 1 scoop (approximately 1/2 cup) vanilla ice cream 1 scoop (approximately 1/2 cup) chocolate ice cream 1 scoop (approximately 1/2 cup) strawberry ice cream 2/3 cup ready-made Chocolate Syrup, or Chocolate Fudge Sauce 1/2 cup ready-made Pineapple Syrup, or ready-made Caramel Syrup 1/2 cup ready-made Strawberry syrup 1 cup heavy cream, whipped with 2 tablespoons sugar, or frozen whipped topping such as Cool Whip, thawed *Note: Already prepared refrigerated store-bought whipped cream in the can can be substituted for making your own whipped cream For Garnish (optional) 1/4 cup chopped nuts, either walnuts or almonds Maraschino Cherries You will need: Glass or stainless steel dessert dish or bowl for Banana Split. |
Instructions: Pour half of the chocolate syrup in the bottom of dessert dish or bowl. With a medium size spoon or ice cream scoop, place each scoop of ice cream in dessert dish (or bowl) next to each other over the syrup. Place 1/2 sliced banana on each side of ice cream. Pour the remaining chocolate syrup and the pineapple or caramel syrup, and the strawberry syrup over the three (3) scoops of ice cream and the sliced bananas. With a pastry bag fitted with a star tip, place whipped cream into bag, and pipe 2 or 3 mounds of whipped cream over the scoops of ice cream (see note below).* Sprinkle chopped nuts over each mound of whipped cream, and top each with a maraschino cherry. Serve immediately. *Note: Piping the whipped cream or thawed frozen whipped topping with a pastry bag over the ice cream and syrup looks very pretty, but of course, you do not need to pipe it on with a pastry bag. Using a spoon, place dollops of whipped cream over ice cream. Note: If desired, any flavors of ice cream can be substituted for the ones in this recipe. You can also make the Banana Split with just 2 scoops of ice cream instead of three, and two flavors of syrups instead of three. This is a dessert that you can be very creative with. **Banana Split ice cream dishes can be purchased online at www.cooking.com. |
