Chocolate Marble Cake

Comments: A lovely cake to serve anytime of year or for a special occasion and also lovely to serve at an afternoon tea or brunch. |
Ingredients: 2/3 cup (1 1/2 sticks/6 oz/170 g) unsalted butter or margarine 2 cups granulated sugar 4 eggs, well beaten 3 cups all-purpose flour 4 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1 cup milk 1 oz. unsweetened chocolate, melted 1 tsp. vanilla extract |
Instructions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 C). Grease a 10-inch bundt or tube pan. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and mix well. Sift flour, baking powder and salt and add to creamed mixture alternately with milk. Put 1/3 of the batter into a bowl and add melted chocolate. Add vanilla to the remaining plain batter. Drop plain batter, then chocolate batter by spoonfuls into prepared cake pan. Bake in preheated 350 degree F (180 C) for 1 hour. Cool for 1 hour before removing from pan. Dust top with confectioners' sugar if desired. Makes 12 servings. |

I rated this "Could be better" because family didnt like. Thought it was a bit dry. I would recommend finding one of the many other delicious cakes on this site. 7-1-06

This is a very nice cake - this is the second time I made it, lowering the temperature to 325 degrees and baking for 50 mins. I used 3 colors - pink as well as chocolate and vanilla and poured some choc. and cream drizzle over it. Definitely a "make again" - it will be fun to use peppermint flavoring and choc. flavoring and coloring (or any other good combination.)
