Luscious and sweet, this homemade syrup can be used in place of the store-bought variety. Blend it up to make heavenly shakes, sundaes, and chocolate milk.

Ingredients:
3/4 cup corn syrup
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:
In a heavy saucepan, combine the corn syrup, water, cocoa powder, and sugar. Stir the mixture steadily over high heat until it comes to a boil. Let it boil, continuing to stir constantly, for 1 minute. Remove the pan from the heat and add the vanilla extract. Refrigerate the syrup in an airtight container for up to ten days.

Makes about 1 1/4 cups of syrup.

Almost too easy! But I used raw sugar that didn't seem to disolve completely to make a smooth sauce. Should I have made 'sugar water' out of it first to make sure it dissolved completely?
